Communities In Schools of the Nation's Capital

“Seeds of Change” Cocktail Reception

Dear Friend,

Thank you for making the CIS of the Nation's Capital Seeds of Change event a success. More than 200 old and new friends filled The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown to celebrate our mission to improve graduation rates and academic achievement in the District of Columbia.

We were honored to present Quinn Bradlee, Eugene Ford, Sr., and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company with the Communities In Schools Award.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and all of the students and families we serve, thank you for your generous support.

Communities In Schools "Power Lunch” with Friends of Quinn was piloted at Ferebee-Hope Elementary School during the 2009-10 school year. The program was named “Power Lunch” because the goal is to empower Learning Disabled (LD) students to express their voices in a supportive, engaging forum. Quinn Bradlee, his mother, Sally Quinn, and their special guests engage students in positive social interaction to develop self-esteem and promote the fulfillment of their unique potential. “Power Lunch” sessions are not only for students; they are open to individuals, including parents and teachers, who play an integral part in students’ lives.
